| History
Pencarrow Lodge is situated between Pencarrow and Baring
Head lighthouses in Fitzroy Bay at the entrance of Wellington
harbour,
capital city of New Zealand.
In
1988 Mike and Jane Curtis took over the grazing lease of
a
large rural block on Wellington's South coast, after farming
it for 3 years, they purchased the farm. The farm had a
growing
problem with cattle rustling. As a result of this a cottage
was built to house a farm worker to keep an eye on the coastal
side of the farm.
Mike also ran a horse trekking business with overnight stays
at the cottage, with guests finding it a great place to
party with stunning views and awesome sunsets. This encouraged
them to expand.
The small cottage was transformed into an expansive lodge
now catering for the corporate and social market.
Pencarrow Lodge offers everything you need for a great relaxing
day or evening away from the city. |
The Approach
The coastline at the entrance of the Wellington harbour is
a spectacular tract of expansive rocky beaches against
a wild backdrop of native grass, flax and hills, and is unspoiled,
rustic and relaxed.

Sunsets
On nights like this the Pencarrow area is at its most
