Pencarrow Lodge is a private secluded venue and works under strict resource consent that only allows so many commercial vehicles to the lodge each day.
This is because the area is locked up to vehicles, as it is a very unique area.  It is the most scenic drive in Wellington to the venue.  Right on the rugged Coastline.  The gravel road was the first road to the Wairarapa taking you past the sites of many early ship wrecks, the historic Pencarrow lighthouse and Wellingtons only 2 fresh water lakes which were uplifted by earthquakes.   Very few people in Wellington get to see this area.
